The Ministry, Work and Fun of Grandview York
All staff and volunteers working with kids, teens and vulnerable adults have completed Safe Sanctuaries background clearances and training and follow Grandview Church safety standards.
Kids
Kidventure – Sunday mornings during the worship service we offer a safe and fun space for kids birth to grade 1 to connect with one another. Kids leave following the Kid’s Time and return during our final song throughout the year.
Formation Hour Classes – Age appropriate Bible stories, music, and crafts all encourage kids to ask questions, nurture their own faith and love others. Meeting Sundays at 10am during the school year.
Youth
Youth Group – To be rooted in the love of Christ is to have an anchor and a compass in a world full of choices. We long for each student to know the love of Christ and, out of that love, seek opportunities to make gentle a bruised world in their own contexts. We meet monthly to grow in relationship with Christ and one another, serve our community, and have lots of fun!
Formation Hour Class – Following the worship service, youth in grades 6-12 are invited to gather together as we dive into the Bible, faith, and what it all means on a relatable and tangible level. Through games, activities, scripture, reflection, and discussion, we grow together on this journey of faith.
Confirmation Class – Youth explore their own beliefs alongside peers, teachers and adult mentors as we explore what it means to love God and love neighbor. The most important part is for youth to affirm where they are in their own faith journey as they have the opportunity to become an active member in the body of Christ at Grandview. Class meets 2 times a month for 6 months in addition to 2-3 overnights.
All Adults
Coffee & Theology – Adult conversations focused on building community while exploring the intersection of current events and theology. Based upon “Pub Theology” style discussion created by pastor, writer, and pub theologian Bryan Berghoef. Meets Sunday mornings during Formation Hour at 10am during the school year.
Men’s Breakfast Group – Monthly breakfasts offering a time of casual connection for anyone who identifies as male, offering a weekday and a Saturday morning gathering.
Music
Band – Using a variety of instruments and voices, this team led by Lead Musician, Nathan Swavely, of rotating players leads the congregation in joyful song. Rehearsals on Sunday mornings.
Behind the Scenes
Tech Crew – Working backstage with lights, sound and computers to create a distraction-free environment for people to engage during our services.
Front of the House Team – Extending a warm welcome. From greeters at the front door, to ushers, to bakers and fresh coffee brewers – we strive to create an atmosphere that invites people to linger. Our growing team of volunteers always has room for more.
Backstage Team – Meeting in a theatre means we set up and tear down every week. From loading and unloading gear to setting up mic stands to creating a worship space around set pieces of the latest Belmont production, our team literally sets the stage each week for people to encounter God.
